DRIVERS NOTE:
- NO AV Gas!
- NO Ride Height Measuring Devices whatsoever.
- All safety equipment: Helmets, gloves, fire suits, etc. will be checked before receiving a safety sticker!
- All drivers are responsible for the actions of their crew. Any violation of Citrus County Speedway's General Rules by a race car driver or their team/crew will result in the driver's disqualification for the night.
CITRUS COUNTY SPEEDWAY - RACE COURSE RULES
CONDITIONS OF ADMISSION - 2024
RAIN POLICY: Once you are in the gate (Grandstands or Pits) you will not be given a refund. If we do not start a race, whether it be heat or qualifying, you will be given a rain check. Once the first green flag drops, whether it be a heat race or qualifying, and we rain out there will be no refunds or rain checks given.
TRANSPONDERS: Drivers are responsible for damages and loss of transponder that has been assigned during the event. Pay will be withheld until balance is paid for transponder, $450.
1. All drivers, car owners and pit crew members are responsible for knowing and complying with all classes of racing, safety and flag rules.
2. Any injury that occurs to any driver, pit crew member or spectator must be immediately communicated to the Speedway Manager.
3. Everyone entering the pit area must sign a release (3.1). A parent or guardian must sign a special release document for minors for the season, and must sign-in minors at each event (3.3). Parent or guardian must accompany the minor(s) in the pit area always.
4. Admission wristband must be worn always. (No Exceptions).
5. The Speedway Manager has the right to refuse entry of any car, driver, or pit crew member into the pit area or grandstands.
6. Glass containers are not allowed in the pit area, backstretch, or grandstands.
7. No consumption of alcoholic beverages before and during the event! The Speedway Manager and Citrus County Sheriff’s Department will deal with any car owner, driver, or pit crew member under the influence of alcohol.
8. Alcoholic beverages and any type of controlled substances are not allowed in the pit area.
9. Registration closes at 5:30 p.m. Anybody that registers after that, will be charged an additional $5 fee per class.
10. Scooters, four wheelers, golf carts, one wheels, motorcycles or any other type of motorized vehicle will not be allowed in the pits. The only acceptations will be registered/ handicap mobility.
11. Camping: Authorized camping only (Gate closure is at midnight. Subject to change).
12. No personal vehicles in the pits (vans, trucks, cars, etc.).
13. Bulk fuel 55 gallon drums are prohinited. Any participant with more than 40 gallons of fuel for their generator per event, and/or carrying bulk racing fuel will be asked to leave premises immediately.
14. Damages or improper disposal at the facility will result in a fine, amount will be based off damages done.
CONDUCT
1. The Citrus County Speedway is private property. Through your entrance ticket, you have been given the privilege to be present on the property for attending scheduled racing events and activities. The Citrus County Speedway reserves the right to revoke and cancel this privilege at any time if it determines that your presence and conduct are not in the best interest of the sport of auto racing, your fellow competitors, the fans, Speedway Management or Staff.
2. We expect courteous conduct from all participants always. Everyone has an image to uphold for the fans and the reputation of the Citrus County Speedway. Profanity and/or threatening language of any kind in front of fans, Speedway Management or Staff will not be tolerated.
3. Unsportsmanlike or unruly conduct will not be tolerated. Car owners, drivers, pit crew members, and spectators must remain in their respective pit area in the event of a dispute. Individuals who fail to comply with this policy may be subject to suspension, loss of points and pay, and/or a fine. Any fighting or physical altercation of any kind will be subject to arrest and prosecution, and will be deferred to the Citrus County Sheriff’s Department for enforcement.
4. Any car owner, driver, pit crew member, or spectator guilty of unsportsmanlike conduct will be suspended from the Citrus County Speedway at the discretion of the Speedway Manager.
5. The Speedway Manager reserves the right to retain purse money to settle unpaid expenses related to tires, fuel, fines, and admission fees.
FLAGS
GREEN: Start / restart race.
BLUE W/ YELLOW STRIPE: Pass or move over. This will be displayed to cars that are being lapped.
YELLOW: Caution, pace lap speed, single file, hold position – no passing.
RED: Danger – race will be stopped immediately.
BLACK: Exit the track for consultation.
WHITE: One lap remaining.
CHECKERED: End of the race.
1. On a RED flag, cars must stop as soon and as safely as possible. Any cars not conforming to the red flag are subject to disqualification (DQ). Cars that enter the pits will go to the rear of the field when racing resumes.
2. Cars do not race back to the caution. If the white flag has been displayed you will come to a checkered flag if the leaders can get back to the checkered flag. If the yellow flag is needed to be displayed on the white, we will restart with a Green/White/Checkered. We will make two (2) attempts at the Green/White/Checkered.
3. If a caution occurs, the order in which the car crosses the start/finish line on the last lap will set the restart line-up. If there is a yellow before the first lap is completed, there will be one (1) attempt at a complete restart with all cars returning to their original starting position. This shall be at the discretion of the Speedway management. A second yellow will result in the ALL Involved Rule.
4. Any driver that refuses to go to the rear or change any position as directed will be penalized one (1) lap.
5. Any car receiving a black flag will immediately exit the track. If this car does not exit after two (2) laps, any further laps made will not be scored until the black flag is acknowledged.
POINTS
1. It is the driver’s responsibility to ensure the correct addresses, names, sponsor names, and financial information is in order before the first point race.
2. Points are awarded to drivers who start the initial green flag. If you break or crash in heat race or qualifying and can't compete in the feature, you will be given start points and half of start money. (Must be approved by management)
3. The criteria to receive points is as follows:
Must start under your own power with the initial green flag, must complete one (1) lap under your own power during the race, and if you break or crash in heat race or qualifying and can't compete in the feature, you will be given start points and half of start money. (Must be approved by management)
4. If you experience problems that night, you may borrow a car ONLY in your own class. You must go to the scoring tower and inform the head scorer of ANY driver change prior to the start of the race you are registered for. Driver changes that have not been approved by the Head Scorer will result in the loss of points for the event raced.
5. Each race car must be signed-in every night prior to 5:30 pm, even if you time trial.
6. If you alternate drivers each week, ensure you inform the Speedway Staff Member that is signing in cars.
7. To receive points money, you must start the main event 90% of the racing season.
8. If your car is found to be illegal or disqualified on the Speedway, you will forfeit all race points and money for the event. For second offenses, you will forfeit ALL accumulated points for the season.
9. Points will not be carried over if you move to another division.
10. Points money must be claimed at the end of the season at the banquet.
11. If you contest the points or have any other issues with the results, you should contact the Speedway manager directly to review and address the problem(s). (Nobody else). Time will apply.
12. If there is a rain check given each class racing will be given 10 points to all cars registered that night.
COMPETITION
1. Drivers cannot switch from one (1) division to another without the authorization of the Speedway Manager.
2. No driver can qualify two (2) cars in any one (1) division.
3. If two (2) cars post the same lap time during time trials, the first car to post that time will be given the top position.
4. If pit lane becomes empty during time trials, a time limit of five (5) minutes will be set before the next division will be called.
5. If two (2) or more cars cross the finish line at the same time in the race, the flagman will make the final decision.
6. No car owner, driver, pit crew member or spectator will approach the flag stand or race control (scoring tower) to protest anything during the race. If a question needs to be answered, the individual must consult with a member of the Speedway Management.
7. Drivers may review the score sheet in a courteous manner.
8. Decisions made by Speedway management on interpretation of rules and race procedures will be final.
9. No car owner, driver, or pit crew member shall have any claim for damages, expenses, or otherwise against the Speedway Manager or Speedway Staff because of disqualification or damage to the car, driver, or pit crew member.
10. The race may be stopped or called off due to the condition of the track, weather conditions, or time of night (lateness), at the discretion of the Speedway Manager.
11. Any race will be considered complete if fifty-percent (50%) of the laps have been completed, and a winner determined if it is necessary to call a race.
12. All drivers are responsible for collecting payout. Any payouts not collected night of event, will be forfeited.
13. Citrus County Speedway and Track LLC will not mail payout.
14. Payout will be available as soon as possible.
15. All cars must fit guidelines of rules of the class! We will not let another car from another division run in a different class!
SAFETY
1. Drivers must wear approved safety helmets. Helmets must meet the specification set forth in Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard Regulations or American National Standards Institute, or SFI.
2. Driver fire suits are mandatory. Fire retardant gloves, shoes, and neck protection are mandatory.
3. Five (5) point seat harness required. Must be mounted to the roll cage. Belts must be in good condition and no older than four (4) years from the date of manufacture. Safety belts and straps must be used always while on the track.
4. No homemade seats are allowed. No holes in the seats or lightweight seats are allowed.
5. Quick release steering wheel. Couplers are highly recommended.
6. When a race is stopped, NO ONE except Speedway Management will be allowed on the track at any time.
7. If an accident occurs on the track at any time, drivers must remain in their cars unless fire is present.
8. After an accident, if the driver is unhurt, the driver should signal by dropping the window net or by raising a hand up outside the window
9. No car is allowed on the track without the presence of Track Safety Personnel and a flagman on duty.
10. No car owner, driver, pit crew member, or spectator may cross the track during practice, time trials or a race.
11. Any car deemed to be in an unsafe condition will not be allowed to participate.
12. Every 3 race wins the race track will add 50lbs to you to even the competition in all classes.
CAR SPECIFICATIONS
1. Track officials may change general or class specific rules with a one (1) week prior notification.
2. No antifreeze of cooler additives may be used – water only.
3. No tire soaking.
4. No direct drives.
5. Only automotive gasoline may be used. Gasoline may not be blended with alcohols, ether, or any other oxygenates. It shall not be blended with aniline or its derivatives, nitro compounds, or other nitrogen containing compounds. All division must use Racing Fuel provided by the Citrus County Speedway. Stock classes shall use pump gasoline as found at any typical service station. NO AV GAS!
6. All cars will have forward and reverse gears that are in good working condition.

9. All cars must start the race with a hood. If damaged during a race, the hood may be removed.
10. All weight must be bolted in securely with grade “8” with 2 ½ fasteners and painted white with the car displayed on it.
11. Window nets are required; net lock must a quick release type. Nets must be up while on the track.
12. Roll bars must be installed both front and rear.
a. Four (4) driver’s side door bars and a minimum of three (3) bars on the right side.
b. Minimum tube size is 1-1/2 inch, Chrome Moly or Low Carbon Steel (Iron Pipe). No galvanized tube or pipe.
13. All roll bars must be padded anywhere within the driver’s reach.

13. Drive shafts must have a safety loop 12 inches from the front and back u-joint. Drive shafts must be painted white.
14. Cars must have an electric kill switch in the middle of the dash accessible to the driver.
15. Fuel cells are required unless otherwise noted. Minimum of ten-inches (10”) of ground clearance under the fuel cell. A safety bar must be installed behind the fuel cell.
16. Fuel line must be routed safety away from the driver, and must be in conduit.
17. Cars must have an approved steel firewall between the fuel cell and the driver. (Must be sealed front and rear).
18. Cars must have solid floorboards.
19. Battery must be located outside the driver’s compartment.
20. All cars must be equipped with a 2-1/2 lb. fire extinguisher within reach of the driver. An additional fire extinguisher must be in the pit area for use by the pit crew.
21. All cars & classes are required to use a race receiver.
CAR NUMBERS
1. All divisions must register car numbers before they go on the race track at the registration window.
2. Drivers from the previous season will also have to register.
3. If the car has not been registered, the Speedway Manager has the right to temporarily change the number. Any changes must be done before practice.
4. Car numbers must “18” inches high on each side of the car, and on top facing the scoring tower. Must also have the number displayed on front windshield and rear of car.
5. Numbers cannot be more than three (3) digits. Letters are permitted, but will not be scored. Letters must be smaller than the number.
TECHNICAL INSPECTION
NOTE:
- e-85 fuel is not allowed in any division!
- The Citrus County Speedway reserves the right to send any part(s) in question during technical inspection, to an outside party to determine if they conform to current Speedway rules and regulations. The Citrus County Speedway also reserves the right to swap items in question with a new out-of-box item.
- No cell phones or radio devices in any division that does not allow radios.
1. All cars, full or part time, must be registered and safety inspected prior to racing for any event.
a. post-race inspections will still be in effect regardless of whether the class has been previously registered and inspected.
b. A sticker will be applied to the upper Left corner of the windshield signifying the car has been registered and inspected. Once the cycle of class inspections is complete, the sticker will be required to receive pay and points. After the sticker is applied, the car will only be subject to post-race and random inspections.
c. Anyone not complying with the inspection or inspection process will not be allowed to race. Visitors and/or part-time competitors will have to be registered as well.
d. It is the sole responsibility of a team to present their car for inspection in a timely manner, well in advance of any racing activity.
2. The winner of each heat in each class will undergo a post-race inspection in heat races all features will be top 3 in the Tech Area after crossing the scales.
Pro Truck Twin 50 Laps Cars will proceed directly to the Tech Area for inspection. Failure to do so may result in disqualification.
b. No more than two (2) team members per team are allowed in the Tech Area during a protest inspection. Such team members are limited to the car owner, driver or pit crew member.
c. Team members must remain by their respective cars always.
3. Any weight penalty, parity or other adjustments applied to a car in Tech Area Officials can only be changed by the Tech Official that originally applied the adjustment.
4. Weight additions or penalties (total values), are to be displayed below the car weight. See Weight Break and Weight Add examples below:
- 2,300 cc 2,300 cc.
- 2,200 lbs. 2,400 lbs.
- 100 lbs. +100 lbs.
5. Tech Area Officials reserve the right to adjust for parity on a case-by-case basis.
6. Cars may be randomly inspected in the pit area at the Tech Official’s discretion.
7. The decisions of the Tech Area Officials on interpretation of rules shall be final
8. For any question related to technical rules, criteria, intent, or reviewing a car from another speedway for use in an event, contact a Tech Area Official directly. Your fellow competitors, spectators or other Speedway Officials cannot give advice in this area.
CLAIMING PROCEDURES
1. All claims must be made to the Head Tech Area Official in charge. NO claims will be accepted by any other Speedway Official.
2. Any car finishing in the top three (3) may fall under claim rules.
3. Any car finishing second (2) and lower, and on the lead lap, may claim one (1) of the top three (3) finishers.
4. All claims must be in writing with cash funds (see class rules for dollar amounts), and must specify exactly which car/item being claimed.
a. A claim on the shocks (one or all four) will be considered as one claim.
5. No driver can claim more than one (1) item on any single night of competition.
6. In the event of multiple claims on the same driver, the claiming driver with the worst finishing position will be the accepted claim of record.
7. The driver is the sole spokesperson for car/item being claimed and the first acceptance or refusal is final.
8. A driver may only be claimed and then sell four (4) times in during any points season.
9. Any refusal will result in loss of all winning monies and points for the night. The 2nd refusal will result in loss of winning monies for the night and ALL accumulated points for the current points season.
10. The Citrus County Speedway reserves the right to refuse any claim deemed to be a “grudge” claim.
11. The Citrus County Speedway reserves the right to claim any item (outright claim), with NO exchanges. If a driver has filed a claim sheet on the same item as the Citrus County Speedway, the driver claim will have priority status.
12. Any “buddy” claims may result in both teams being disqualified.
13. Any sabotage to any claimed item shall be grounds for disqualification.
a. Sabotage will be deemed as any attempt to alter car/items in any manner from what the car/item was used in competition.
b. Sabotage must be discovered at time of exchange.
PROTESTS
Protest Fees: 30-minute cool down time allowed.
- $1,000 for whole car front to back and top to bottom.
- $600 for complete motor
- $300 for the top end (including bore and stroke)
- $100 for rear end
- $150 for torque converter
- $100 for fly wheel clutch plate
- $100 for front supsension
- $100 for rear suspension
- $50 for manual transmission (side plate only)
- $25 for all other minor items
1. All protests must be submitted to a Tech Area Official in writing. Document your name, team name, team position (owner or driver), specific car being protested, and reason for the protest.
2. Protest fee, see tech inspector.
3. Only a car owner or driver may file a protest.
5. If the protest occurs after the main event, it must be acknowledged within fifteen (15) minutes after the race has ended in the Tech Area.
b. The owner or driver filing the protest must be a competitor that finished on the lead lap.
6. The team filing the protest is subject to the same inspection as the car being protested.
7. Any protest that is deemed to be a grudge / buddy / malice protest may be refused by Speedway Tech Officials.
9. No more than two (2) race team members are allowed in the Tech Area during a protest inspection. Such team members are limited to the car owner, driver or pit crew member.
10. Team members must remain by their respective cars always.
11. Points and Payment will be lost for either car if found to be illegal.
12. Refusal of a protest will result in a loss of Points and Payment for the night.
13. Decisions made by Citrus County Speedway Officials shall be final.
14. The following issues shall NOT be subject to protests:
a. Timing and Scoring
b. Inspection Decisions
c. Race Procedures
SOCIAL MEDIA POLICY:
1. Citrus County Speedway defines social media as all means of electronic communication or posting of information/ content of any sort on the internet. This includes but is not limited to your own or someone else's web blogs, personal website, social networking, or affinity website whether or not directly associated or affiliated with racetrack.
2. This includes but is not limited to Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. Although forums may seem informal, individuals are solely responsible for what is posted online whether by themselves and/ or allowing others the ability to post online content for them.
3. Any social media interaction on contribution that adversely affects the racetrack, other members, or others directly. indirectly related to the racetrack, may result in disciplinary action against individuals up to and including exclusion from racetrack indefinitely.
4. This social media policy applies to all racetrack competitors, crew, track officials, and track staff. A competitor is a driver, entrant, family member, crew member (non driver), or any other individual or entity who is a member and/ or participates in any event. All drivers are responsible for the actions of their crew.
5. An official is all authorized employees, agents, representatives, and subcontractors. Citrus County Speedway reserves the right to apply the policy to other members as it deems appropriate.
6. Examples of inappropriate postings, statements, photographs, videos, or audio may include discriminatory remarks, harassment, and threats of violence or similar inappropriate or unlawful conduct and is prohibited. Avoid content that reasonably could be viewed as malicious, obscene, threatening, or intimidating, that disparages others or that might constitute harassment or bullying. Any mistake should be corrected immediately.
7. Be Respectful: If an individual post complaints or criticism, avoid using statements, photographs, video, or audio that reasonably could be viewed as malicious, obscene and threatening or intimidating, that disparages others or that might constitute harassment or bullying. Example of such conduct might include offensive posts meant to intentionally harm some ones reputation or posts that could contribute to a hostile trackside environment based on race, sex, disability, religion or any other status projected by law, rule or policy.
8. Any violations to these rules is subject to penalty, which will start at $300. By participating in our events, participants and customers will agree to the terms and conditions of our Social Media and other track policies. Track reserves the right to penalize drivers at payout window.
Any rule or condition that is intentionally broken by any team, or any actions that provides a Car or Driver an unfair advantage, as determined by Citrus County Speedway Management, may result in loss of points, loss of payment, fines of $50.00 to $500.00, and suspension from the Speedway. Any such determinations will be made solely by the Citrus County Speedway Management.
Always comply with the rules. Race fairly and safely at all times.
